Um, so Paul, you kind of, uh, jumped the gut on me a little bit because as typically what I start by saying is that, uh, this bill underlines or codifies what we, what we in the community all already know that the inaccessibility of websites, software applications, online services, this poses a tremendous barrier to education, employment, and really full inclusion for people who are blind and low vision. And, uh, as you stated, many organizations and individuals across the disability community. It’s a priority that’s shared by our partners at NFB as well as the American Foundation for the Blind. So, the, the websites and software Applications Accessibility Act is a legislative imperative for the American Council of the Blind. Clark, I’m gonna start with you to just quickly explain what is this Website and Software Accessibility Act? But we’ll clarify all this in just a second. Uh, if of course the legislation passes, it will spawn its own set of regulations.

The other, uh, area I’m hoping we can get a quick update on is the regulatory front, uh, because though they’re, they’re sort of moving on separate paths for the moment. And there really are a couple of components to this that I want to touch on. It’s an area of, uh, certainly a great deal of accessibility challenges, both in terms of the websites as well as the applications that we use on a regular basis. This is something that I think our entire community is quite excited about. I wanna start with the websites and software applications Accessibility Act. Great to have a couple of good, good policy hands with me on the podcast. Have been in this role for over four years now based out of our national office in Alexandria, Virginia. I’m the Director of Advocacy and Governmental Affairs for the American Council of the Blind.
